“Talking Walls”- Kosa Exhibition & Winter Residency at Hart House in Toronto
KOSA FOLK ARTS CELEBRATES 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH EXHIBITION OPENING AT HART HOUSE!
Thanks to the good people at Hart House in Toronto, Kosa will be featured in the Talking Walls exhibition on the main floor of Hart House, a centre for experiential education at the University of Toronto this coming winter, from November until end of February.
“Future Folkways: Reclaiming Rituals, Remaking Roots”
The exhibition celebrates Kosa's ongoing commitment to cultural preservation and creative reinvention, showcasing work that draws on ancestral knowledge, Ukrainian folk arts and community-driven practices. Through craft, music, song, dance, ceremony and storytelling, Kosa brings together voices with Eastern European roots to honour shared heritage while imagining new, living forms of tradition.
It will be animated by a series of related events hosted by Hart House and partners, on and off campus, which reflect Kosa’s ethos, with an emphasis on experiential immersion into folk arts practices rooted in Ukrainian culture, and seasonal cycles, including:
Ukrainian & Georgian Singing workshops; weekly Caroling Rehearsals, weekly Folk Band Practices & monthly Dance Socials; monthly Folk Tales series; Folk Theatre & Mask Making Series; Craft Workshops; Walking Tours; Film Screening; Laments & Grief Songs Circle… Culminating Winter Folklore Rozkoliada concert; Lecture by Prof. Snyder & Fundraiser for Ukraine; concert by Lemon Bucket Orkestra and more!
The full list of programs can be found here: https://harthouse.ca/talking-walls/future-folkways
