Kryva Kosa Folk Band Open Rehearsals

  • South Sitting Room - Hart House 7 Hart House Circle Toronto, ON, M5S 3H3 Canada (map)

Playing Folk Music Together.

Sunday evenings from 5 to 9 pm, Nov 2 - Feb 22.

Bring your acoustic instrument and immerse yourself in the rich traditions of village music from various European regions. Play along with the band as they review their repertoire and explore new material. All levels of experience are welcome, and the band will guide you through the rehearsal.

The focus will be on integrating a variety of folk instruments. Please note that the band primarily plays in the keys of B minor and A major. If you’re unsure, feel free to join anyway! If your instrument comes from a musical tradition outside Europe, you are also welcome! The band is flexible and open to experimentation, with a spot for everyone.

Songs rehearsed throughout the month will be performed at the monthly dance socials, where you will have the opportunity to play along with the band as well..

Open to all. Donations appreciated! (Donations will go towards musicians for their time.)

You can donate one time here, pay cash at the door, or become an annual giving member here!)

If you are a University of Toronto student, you can sign up for free! Follow this link.

This workshop is part of the Talking Walls series connected with the Kosa exhibition at Hart House, running Nov-Feb. For the full program listing see the Hart House website.
